Adobe Unveils New Mobile App Beta Bringing Powerful AI to Your Pocket

Adobe’s generative AI technology, a new beta application for Adobe Express, has made Firefly available to a wider demographic, extending the capabilities of Adobe’s artificial intelligence to mobile devices.

Initially, Firefly was acknowledged for its revolutionary functionalities within Photoshop, which granted users the ability to manipulate and produce imaginative material with the aid of artificial intelligence. Subsequent to that, Adobe has integrated Firefly into the desktop iteration of Adobe Express, a lightweight and user-friendly design platform. Now, Adobe is bringing this powerful technology to even more people through a new Adobe Express mobile app.

Featuring practical tools and templates, the original Adobe Express app, which is freely accessible on iOS and Android devices, enables users to generate social media posts, posters, and website banners. Furthermore, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator files can be accessed and edited directly within the mobile application for Creative Cloud members, which streamlines their workflow.

The new beta app (available on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store) not only has the aforementioned functionalities but also introduces premium features, such as ‘Generative Fill’ and ‘Text to Image,’ which are both powered by Firefly. Throughout the beta phase, these AI features are accessible without any supplementary charge, providing you with early access to the future. Nevertheless, upon the application’s official release, access to all Adobe Express tools on both desktop and mobile devices will be exclusively available through a paid subscription initiation at $9.99 per month.

Existing users of the Adobe Express app will not have their projects migrated to the new beta app immediately. However, according to The Verge, a smooth migration is scheduled for the time the app emerges from beta. Significantly, the beta application also incorporates collaborative workflows, enabling teams to collaborate on projects from both desktop and mobile devices, an attribute that was absent from the prior mobile application.

It is imperative to mention that while this beta application is compatible with a certain range of devices, including my Galaxy Z Fold 5, it is not compatible with all modern models. A list of compatible devices can be found on the application’s website for users to verify compatibility prior to launching. Moreover, the execution of AI functionalities takes place in the cloud rather than on the device itself, thereby requiring a dependable internet connection to ensure complete operation.
